Exchange on Access to Radio and Television Media for Individuals with Hearing Impairments

On August 4, Dr. Tanes Tanasomboon, Advisor to Panyapiwat Institute of Technology and Honorary Advisory Board Member of PPAT; Mr. Somchai Kamtong, Independent Journalist and Advisory Board Member for Network Development and Organizational Communication at PPAT; Ms. Ladda Jitwatanapataya, PPAT Project Manager; and Ms. Pathaithip Sakdawisarak, representative of the elderly group from Ratchaphiphat Hospital, participated in a brainstorming and discussion session on access to radio and television media for individuals with hearing and visual impairments.

The session was part of a project studying the regulatory framework for television services that include sign language interpretation, closed captions, and audio descriptions. The event was honored by the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sivanard Hongprayoon, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Arts at Dhurakij Pundit University, who presided over and observed the discussions. The meeting took place at Maruay Garden Hotel, Bangkok.

This project is jointly conducted by the Faculty of Communication Arts, Dhurakij Pundit University, in collaboration with the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

During 15–18 January, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director of PPAT , along with PPAT Senior staff, had a discussion and exchange with Mr. Rishikeshan Thiyagaraja, Assistant Director, and Mr. Manjula Chathuranga Liyanage, Technical Advisor, representatives from IPPF Social Enterprise Hub, to jointly discuss development approaches for operating Baan Hormlamduan Elderly Care Center to succeed, and also transferred knowledge about social enterprise operations, focusing on marketing work, which will benefit PPAT operations in the future….
