‘Girls Act’ Mural Project Fosters Women’s Empowerment for International Day of the Girl

MURAL PROJECT (57)

On September 24, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF Thailand), organized a special activity, the “MURAL PROJECT,” under the ‘Girls Act’ project (Creating Young Women Leaders in Reproductive Health in Educational Institutions). The event took place at Don Muang Chaturajinda School in Bangkok. The activity involved creating a Mural to communicate the stories, power, and values of the ‘Girls Act’ through art. The main objectives were to promote collaboration among young women, use art as a medium for inspiration and communicating project values, and enhance community pride and bonding. It also served as an opportunity for Girls Act chapters worldwide to connect through the same activity and to signify the International Day of the Girl (which falls on October 11 every year). The event was welcomed by Mrs. Chansuda Kaewngamphan, Principal of Don Muang Chaturajinda School. Khun Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of PPAT (Headquarters), Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, PPAT Project Manager, and Khun Worachote Lamudthong, representative from AHF Thailand, also attended to offer encouragement and support.

The activity involved advisory teachers and young women leaders from the Girls Act project across three educational institutions: Don Muang Chaturajinda School, Bang Khen School (Waisalee Anusorn), and Thammasat Klong Luang Wittayakhom School. A total of 40 participants took part.

This MURAL PROJECT reflects the creative power and commitment of young women to be leaders and to communicate health and reproductive health issues in an artistic and lively manner.
