Mobile Health Unit Provides Services to Migrant Workers Affected by Flooding in Mae Sai

DOG00917

On the morning of October 10th, Ms. Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, led the project team in collaboration with the PPAT team from Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and the Karuna Volunteer Club of Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, to deliver mobile health services and reproductive health education to migrant workers and ethnic groups affected by flooding in Mae Sai District. The activity took place at Wat Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province. Most of the beneficiaries were migrant workers who have limited access to support services—particularly in the areas of health, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and domestic violence. The mobile health unit provided a range of services including contraceptive implant services, distribution of contraceptive supplies to prevent unplanned pregnancy, voluntary blood testing, distribution of basic medicines, wound care, and screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Educational activities were also provided on reproductive health, STI prevention, and family planning.

This initiative was carried out under the project titled “Meeting the Essential SRH Needs of Communities Affected by Floods and Landslides in Northern Thailand”, with funding support from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). All activities were carried out without discrimination based on nationality, religion, or ethnicity.

The PPAT project team remains on the ground to continue providing assistance to populations affected by flooding and landslides in the area.
