Association Secretary-General Joins Brainstorming Session on Eliminating Violence Against Women

On July 18th, Mr. Anukul Peedkaew, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), presided over the opening of the national workshop to exchange opinions on the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on the Elimination of Violence Against Women (RPA on EVAW), and delivered a special keynote address. Representing the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) were Asst. Prof. Dr. Somjaree Preeyanont, Secretary-General of the Association, and Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director of the Association, who both participated in the brainstorming session. The meeting saw attendance from representatives of women’s networks and relevant agencies at the Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok.

This morning (June 24th), the working team of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) project deployed a mobile unit to provide free, voluntary HIV/STI screening services. The unit also provided education on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and effective contraception methods to youth at the educational institution.
