On September 23, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) participated in a meeting with the Mae Hong Son Provincial Public Health Office, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and the Karenni Refugee Committee (KnRC) to exchange views and experiences regarding the challenges of health operations in the area. The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the transition of the border health system, particularly on strategic issues and future health operational guidelines, following the IRC’s plan to cease its health service provision role in the temporary shelters. This critical situation requires careful planning to mitigate potential impacts. The meeting was held at the office of the Baan Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter in Mueang District, Mae Hong Son Province. Mr. Waritchart Panchoo, Deputy District Chief of Mae Hong Son Province (Senior Professional Administrative Officer) acting as the Head of the Baan Mai Nai Soi Shelter, presided over the meeting.

PPAT’s representatives, led by Miss Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, and Mr. Pongsakorn Saokhiao, Project Officer, will use the identified challenges, especially concerning Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), as crucial data for planning and organizing activities. This work falls under the project “Essential Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Response for Conflict-Affected Communities along the Thai-Myanmar Border,” which is supported by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), to ensure it aligns with the needs and context of the area.
