On November 6th, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic), in collaboration with Mae Suai Hospital, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province, organized an activity to provide education on sexual and reproductive health to women of reproductive age and their families. The activity also included the provision of contraceptive implant services to women of reproductive age who voluntarily participated in the program. On October 30th, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) (Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic), in collaboration with the “Khon Khon for Change” Group, Raks Thai Foundation, Mae Fa Luang District Public Health Office, Phaya Phrai Health Promoting Hospital, the village head of Ban Mae Mor, and village health volunteers (VHVs) of Ban Mae Mor, conducted a mobile health outreach at Ban Mae Mor, Thoet Thai Subdistrict, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The activity provided health services and reproductive health services, along with the distribution of hygiene kits to families affected by flooding and landslides in the area. On October 25th, Ms. Serene Ramnee, Project Manager at the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), represented the Association in a discussion forum titled “Developing Human Resources Across All Ages to Address an Ageing Society: From Policy to Practice”, held as part of the launch event for Thailand’s ICPD30 Report: 30 Years of Progress in Population and Sustainable Development. The event was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand, in collaboration with the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and partner organizations. The forum aimed to launch and present Thailand’s ICPD30 Report and to share key findings with experts for discussion. It also served as a platform to promote the exchange of ideas among stakeholders, policymakers, and the general public, fostering a shared understanding of Thailand’s demographic transformation in the coming years. From October 22–25, Ms. Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri, Registrar of the Association; Dr. Panpimol Wipulakorn, M.D., PPAT Board Member; and Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, participated in the Solidarity for Change Regional Gathering & Youth Forum 2024, organized by the International Planned Parenthood Federation East and Southeast Asia and Oceania Region (IPPF ESEAOR) in Iloilo City, Philippines. The event brought together more than 100 participants from 21 member countries of IPPF ESEAOR, including executive board members, senior management, and youth representatives. The gathering served as a platform for discussing opportunities and challenges in shaping strategic collaboration in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice (SRHRJ) in the Asia-Oceania region. On October 23rd, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother, in collaboration with the Bor Farang Rimnam Community and Public Health Service Center 17 Prachaniwet, organized the activity “In Remembrance of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother’s Benevolence” on the occasion of her birthday anniversary. Her Royal Highness is the patron of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand. The event took place at Bor Farang Rimnam Community, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The activity was led by Ms. Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of PPAT, Mr. Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, Ms. Pattaya Buranaprapa, and the PPAT team. On October 15th, Mr. Pongsakorn Saokhiao, Project Officer, traveled to Saraphi District, Chiang Mai Province, to distribute hygiene kits to 35 households of young mothers under the age of 20 who had been affected by severe flooding. Access to the area was extremely difficult, with travel possible only by boat. The hygiene kits included sanitary pads, male and female underwear, towels, condoms, and essential daily necessities. On October 14th, the mobile health unit of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) (Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic) continued its field operation at Wat Tham Phachom, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, by distributing hygiene kits to support and encourage village health volunteers (VHV) who were also affected by the floods and landslides in Wiang Phang Kham Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province (assigned to the disaster relief unit at Wat Tham Phachom). On September 12th, the mobile health unit of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) continued its field operation at Wat Tham Phachom, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, which was the first village to receive the surge of flash floods coming from the Myanmar side. The floodwaters brought mud that inundated houses and reached inside living areas. From October 7–10, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) assigned Ms. Orawan Kerdjan, Senior Officer, Planning and Evaluation Division, and Ms. Nuchnar Raruern, Project Manager for Sexual and Reproductive Health Capacity Development in Emergency Situations (SPRINT 2), to participate as representatives in the Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Training Workshop. The workshop was organized through collaboration between IPPF East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESAOR), IPPF South Asia Region, and UNFPA Asia and the Pacific. The workshop focused on advancing accountability and empowering communities to take part in decision-making processes that directly affect their lives. It aimed to ensure that no one is left behind and that humanitarian decision-making genuinely considers and responds to the voices of crisis-affected populations. True accountability was emphasized as a mechanism through which affected communities’ voices can be heard. On the morning of October 10th, Ms. Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, led the project team in collaboration with the PPAT team from Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and the Karuna Volunteer Club of Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, to deliver mobile health services and reproductive health education to migrant workers and ethnic groups affected by flooding in Mae Sai District. The activity took place at Wat Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province. Most of the beneficiaries were migrant workers who have limited access to support services—particularly in the areas of health, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and domestic violence.
