On September 23, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) participated in a meeting with the Mae Hong Son Provincial Public Health Office, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and the Karenni Refugee Committee (KnRC) to exchange views and experiences regarding the challenges of health operations in the area. The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the transition of the border health system, particularly on strategic issues and future health operational guidelines, following the IRC’s plan to cease its health service provision role in the temporary shelters. Between September 22–24, Dr. Ai-yakarn Ai-yakarn, Deputy Director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), Southern Office, led a team of staff from PPAT Medical Clinics (both central and regional offices) on a study visit to the Institute of HIV Research and Innovation (IHRI) in Bangkok. The purpose of the visit was to enhance knowledge and develop the service capacity of PPAT Medical Clinics. The study visit focused on learning best practices in several areas: Dispensing PrEP & PEP (medications for HIV prevention). Promoting health and reproductive health in various dimensions. Between September 17–19, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), and Miss Nuchanat Raruen, Project Manager, participated in an annual seminar for government officials, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) staff, and International Organization (IO) staff working on the care of displaced persons from conflict in Myanmar for the 2025 fiscal year. The meeting was held at the Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok, to discuss and plan humanitarian work. Key topics covered included: Government policy toward the displaced persons. Thai foreign policy with Myanmar. The operations of International Organizations and NGOs regarding the migration of displaced persons, along with humanitarian aid reports.Discussions were also held to find solutions to problems, obstacles, and recommendations for future collaborative operational planning. On September 15, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), Mae Sot Office, participated in organizing the “9th National Youth Day 2025: Youth for a Better Future” event at Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, Mae Sot Campus. The event was held under the concept of “Youth for a Better Future,” with the aim of celebrating the voice and dreams of young people ready to lead towards a brighter future. Mr. Chuchip Phongchai, the Governor of Tak Province, presided over the opening ceremony. The event saw the lively participation of over 500 students and teachers from 17 learning centers for migrant children. This morning, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) held a joint meeting with the Project Office for Promoting Reproductive Health for Displaced Persons from Conflict along the Thai-Myanmar Border in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. The goal was to find cooperative ways to solve the problem of access to reproductive health services for displaced persons from conflict, both inside and outside temporary shelters. The meeting was attended by Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director, along with staff from PPAT and representatives from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). This morning (August 29), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) held a workshop to summarize the operational results of the project promoting HIV prevention among youth in educational institutions. The meeting took place at the Pukping Ing Tarn Boutique Hotel in Nonthaburi Province. The session was led by Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, along with the working committee. The objectives were to review past performance, brainstorm solutions to challenges, and exchange experiences among project advisors from network schools: Keha Thung Song Hong Wittaya 1 School, Keha Thung Song Hong Wittaya 2 School, and Rajavinit Bangkhen School. On August 27, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), through its Pattani Provincial Office, delivered medical supplies and antifungal medication to Pattani Provincial Prison to support the healthcare of the inmates. The objective is to promote the quality of life and hygiene of the prisoners. This project is part of PPAT’s mission to enhance access to health and reproductive health services for marginalized and vulnerable populations, which includes inmates in correctional facilities. Miss Saitong Doloh, Project Manager, stated, “This donation of medical supplies is a collaboration between PPAT Pattani and Pattani Provincial Prison. On August 19, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF Thailand), held a workshop titled ‘Strengthening Young Women Leaders and Project Advisors to Provide Knowledge, Assistance, and Service Referrals on Reproductive Health to Youth in Educational Institutions’ under the project ‘Creating Young Women Leaders in Reproductive Health in Educational Institutions’ (Girl Act 2025). On August 18, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), represented by Ms. Nuchanat Raruen, Project Manager, Khun Preeyanuch Ontuwong, PPAT Mae Sot, Tak Provincial Project Manager, and their team, delivered antifungal medication to police officers, soldiers, Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), network organizations, and local residents in Tak Province. The medication is intended for the treatment of fungal skin infections. The purpose of this donation is to alleviate the hardship faced by the public and officials working in the area, who often suffer from skin conditions due to the hot and humid climate, particularly officials who work outdoors for extended periods.
