On May 30th, Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, the working team, and representatives from the Bureau of Communicable Disease, Department of Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), organized a workshop for capacity building in communication skills for project advisors and youth leaders. This was held under the project “Promoting HIV Infection Prevention among Youth in Educational Institutions. The workshop aimed to practice communication skills and provide knowledge on: preventing Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), assessing risky behaviors that may lead to STIs., understanding methods of self-protection, and practical activities to practice effective communication skills. The goal was for the youth leaders to be able to disseminate the knowledge gained to their peers in their respective educational institutions. Project advisors and youth leaders from four network educational institutions participated: Keha Thung Song Hong Wittaya 1 School, Keha Thung Song Hong Wittaya 2 School, Ratwinit Bangkhen School, and Sikan (Wathananan Upatham) School. On May 27th, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) partnered with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Thailand and Thammasat Khlong Luang Wittayakhom School to organize an activity for Menstrual Health Day 2025. The event aimed to promote awareness and accurate understanding of menstrual hygiene, as well as support access to sanitary pads and essential products needed during menstruation. A key focus was also on creating a value system free from prejudice and stigma to achieve gender equality. Activities included demonstrating the correct use of various types of sanitary pads and the donation of sanitary pads to the students. The event was led by Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, along with other PPAT project staff. We are confident that today’s activities will help break down barriers for our youth. On May 25th, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) held its 55th Annual General Meeting for 2024 to summarize its operational performance for the year and discuss approaches for the sustainable development of the organization. The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luedech Gridwichai, President of the Association. Also in attendance were Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, Association Treasurer; Miss Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri, Registrar; and Mr. Wichian Neamnom, who was assigned to fulfill the duties on behalf of the Secretary-General of PPAT, along with members of the 17th and 18th Boards of Directors, PPAT members, and staff. On May 21st, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), along with Khun Panatphong Noradee, Manager of Knowledge Dissemination and Public Relations, attended the press conference for “We All Pride Thailand 2025 @Bangkapi: Love, Understanding, Dignity, Equality.” The event aims to open up space and opportunities for individuals, groups, and communities of sexual and gender diversity (LGBTIQ+) and those with diverse identities in all social dimensions. This platform allows them to demonstrate their pride in having a good quality of life, being able to access rights, equality, and full participation in their sustainable self-development, as Thailand steps towards hosting World Pride 2030. On May 12th, Khun Saitong Doloh, Project Manager, and the working team organized a training activity for capacity building in reproductive health, including promoting knowledge on rights and choices of individuals, ending gender-based violence (GBV), and promoting gender equality. This was held under the project “Empowering Women and Youth to Build Gender Equality” in the three Southern Border Provinces: Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. In the afternoon of May 1st, Miss Nuchanat Raruen, Project Manager, led the working team of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) Mae Sot Project, Tak Province, to participate in a free mobile health unit for migrant workers at the “MRPWG May Day 2025” event, held for National Labor Day 2025 (B.E. 2568). The event took place at the Mae Tao Mai Sunday Market, Phra That Pha Daeng Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and was organized by the Migrant Rights Promotion Working Group (MRPWG). The mobile health unit received significant interest from migrant workers. Additionally, the event featured a discussion forum which resulted in proposals directed towards the government, relevant state agencies, and the business sector in Mae Sot District, Tak Province. These proposals called for concrete solutions to the problems faced by migrant workers, emphasizing the need for proactive legal protection and a focus on respecting the human rights of migrant workers….
In the morning of May 1st, Miss Nuchanat Raruen, Project Manager, led the working team of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) Mae Sot Project, Tak Province, to participate in a campaign march for the National Labor Day 2025 (B.E. 2568). On the morning of 25 April, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary-General of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), participated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between PPAT, under the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, and the Private Vocational Education Association of Thailand (PAVET), under the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In the afternoon of 11 April 2025, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), By the Ban Hom Lamduan residential care center for older persons and those with dependency, organized the activity “Water-Pouring and Offering Alms to Monks for the Songkran Festival 2025.” The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, PPAT Executive Director, along with the Association’s management team, staff, residents, and their families. Together, they performed the traditional rituals of bathing the Buddha image and pouring water over the hands of elders to ask for blessings — in celebration of Thai New Year and in continuation of cherished cultural traditions. This morning (April 4), Ms. Nuchanat Raruen, Project Manager, led the project team from PPAT Mae Sot, Tak Province, to participate in a advocacy activity providing knowledge on reproductive health, family planning, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections. The activity was held during the ceremony awarding outstanding workplaces and schools, as well as a practical workshop on implementing workplace safety standards for safety officers in target workplaces under the project to strengthen the capacity and network of CSOs for the protection of migrant workers’ rights (CNMRP).
