On January 17, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), led by Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, along with the project team, organized a briefing meeting on the full implementation process with an emphasis on continuity and sustainability in educational institutions. This is under the project to promote HIV prevention among youth in educational institutions in Pathum Thani Province. The purpose was to explain the project activities in detail and to plan the implementation of the project in collaboration with project advisors and youth leaders in the institutions. Participating agencies and networked educational institutions included the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Saraburi, North Bangkok University Rangsit Campus, Rangsit University, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University, Thammasat Khlong Luang Witthayakhom School, and Teepangkorn Wittaya Phatthana School (Mathayom Wat Hatsat Kaset) under Royal Patronage. On the morning of December 25th, Miss Intharadara Chuengdee, Youth Committee Member, together with Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, led PPAT executives and staff in offering food and alms to monks as part of a Buddhist merit-making ceremony to bring auspiciousness for the New Year 2025. The ceremony included a religious rite in which nine monks chanted sacred blessings. On December 23rd, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with the Bor Farang Rimnam Community, organized an encouragement and support activity for the elderly to promote self-worth and pride among older adults. The event took place at Bor Farang Rimnam Community, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The activity was led by Ms. Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of PPAT; Mr. Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager; Ms. Pattaya Buranaprapa; PPAT staff; and Ms. Katrin Prayuktwithnathan, guest speaker providing knowledge to elderly participants. The highlight of the activity was a natural multipurpose balm-making session, where participants learned to make balm suitable for application on lips, dry facial areas, hands, knees, and elbows. The session also included a workshop on making inhalers using essential oils. Each participant received the essential oil products they made themselves, helping to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment among the elderly attending the event….
On December 21st, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with Public Health Service Center 17 Prachaniwet and Bor Farang Rimnam Community, organized a training activity for volunteer leaders to provide knowledge toward becoming healthy older adults. The activity also included home visits to elderly residents in the area. The event took place at Bor Farang Rimnam Community, Chatuchak District, Bangkok and was led by Ms. Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of PPAT; Mr. Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager; Ms. Pattaya Buranaprapa; PPAT staff members; and student interns from Kasetsart University (Bangkhen Campus). The event featured health promotion activities for the elderly, such as memory exercises and Mandala coloring. On December 20th, Mr. Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, together with Ms. Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, and the project team from the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), served as guest speakers to provide education on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and effective contraception methods. The activity took place during a practical training workshop on family planning and unplanned pregnancy prevention for youth at Wat Huang Hin School, held at Chak Bok Subdistrict Municipality, Ban Khai District, Rayong Province. The event was organized by the Public Health and Environment Division of Chak Bok Subdistrict Municipality to promote comprehensive reproductive health knowledge among young people. The session focused on student participation and included educational lectures, classroom demonstrations, and group-based activity stations on topics such as risky behaviors that lead to HIV infection, STI prevention, and contraceptive methods. Yesterday (December 19th), Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, led elderly residents from Baan Horm Lamduan Elderly Care Home, operated by the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), on an off-site educational trip to Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park), Chatuchak, to enjoy a change of scenery and connect with nature. Yesterday (December 13th), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development (Ministry of Social Development and Human Security), the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection (Ministry of Justice), the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, the Department of Disease Control (Ministry of Public Health), the National Health Security Office, and private sector partners, jointly organized the 6th Annual Arthanarishvara Forum and Awards 2024, under the theme “Transforming Asia: Advancing Equality Through Legal Gender Recognition.” The event aimed to honor, recognize, and celebrate individuals and organizations that have dedicated themselves to advancing work within and for gender-diverse communities, at both national and international levels. On the morning of December 12th, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary-General of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), together with Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, received a multi-purpose van from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The handover ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Park Yongmin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand.
