From October 3–6, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, PPAT Secretary, along with Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, PPAT Treasurer, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, PPAT Director, and the PPAT Chiang Mai team, participated in a meeting to exchange knowledge on maternal and child health care for ethnic minorities and residents in remote areas in Mae Hong Son. The session, organized by the Regional Health Promotion Center 1 in Chiang Mai and UNFPA Thailand and Vietnam, focused on improving access to prenatal and childbirth services in these hard-to-reach communities. From September 26–29, 2023, PPAT’s Deputy Director, Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, and Research and Development Manager, Ms. Saneekan Rosamontri, participated in the closing meeting of the Global Care Consortium for Abortion and Reproductive Self-care in Kenya. This event, organized by 15 global organizations, including Profamilia Colombia and supported by IPPF, featured a presentation by PPAT on telemedicine for self-managed abortion. On the morning of June 23, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary of PPAT, along with Mr. Xuwat Wongchotewattana, Director of Human Resources for Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, presided over the scholarship award ceremony for academically gifted LGBTQIA+ youth in need of financial support. This initiative aims to inspire and empower these young individuals to pursue their education and become valuable, skilled contributors to society. On September 22, Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, Deputy Director of PPAT, delivered a presentation on “Guidelines for the Use of Abortion Medication and Self-care” at the 56th Network Meeting on Support Options for Unplanned Pregnancies, themed “A Path to Safe, Legal, and Stigma-Free Abortion: Pro-Voice #10.” The meeting was held under the project “Monitoring the Abortion Service System and Developing Innovative Services under the New Abortion Law,” organized by the Population and Social Research Association and the Volunteer Network Association, with support from the Health Promotion Foundation, at the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Bangkok….
On September 16-17, Khun Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, led a team of trainers from the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) to conduct a capacity-building workshop for visually impaired youth leaders under the Comprehensive Sexuality Education Curriculum Development Project for Visually Impaired Youth. The event was held at Princeton Bangkok Hotel and was implemented by the Ratchasuda College, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. This training focused on key topics such as reproductive health, unplanned pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sexual rights, and reproductive rights through interactive learning activities. These included “Know Yourself, Know Others” exercises, public speaking and practical training, basic counseling skills workshops, and Ratchasuda theater activities. From September 9-10, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) Pattani, in collaboration with the Thammasakon Hatyai School for the Blind, organized a training session for visually impaired youth. The program provided knowledge on reproductive health, unplanned pregnancy prevention among adolescents, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and HIV/AIDS under two key projects: the Sexual Health Promotion and Capacity Building for Visually Impaired Individuals Project and the Enhancing Access to Reproductive Health Knowledge and Services in Educational Institutions and Communities Project. On September 9, PPAT, in collaboration with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Thailand, organized a workshop to enhance the capacity of student leaders under the project promoting HIV testing and referral services for HIV/AIDS treatment among vulnerable populations (MSM/TG) in Bangkok. The event was held at Rama Gardens Hotel and was led by Khun Worachote Lamudthong, the project manager, along with his team. The workshop was attended by student leaders from partner educational institutions, including Bangkok University, Rangsit University, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage, Siam University, and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. On August 29, PPAT organized a workshop to review progress, exchange experiences, and plan further initiatives in educational institutions under the HIV Prevention Promotion Project for Youth in Educational Institutions in Pathum Thani Province.
