Meeting summarizing operations on youth work development in the northern region

On the past 26 December, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director of PPAT, and project working team participated in a meeting to review and exchange learning with partner networks on the implementation of the “Empowering our Youth Project” to enable youth access to reproductive health and family planning equally and thoroughly, which is operated in Chiang Mai province.To jointly summarize project operations, the outcome of this project shows commitment to promoting the potential of all youth groups comprehensively, including sexual and reproductive health rights and family planning, focusing mainly on youth participation. The meeting was honored by Khun Duangkamol Ponchamni, representative of UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), giving an opening speech and also joining New Year celebration activities with a warm heartfelt atmosphere….

Secretary-General of PPAT opening training on capacity development of PPAT Medical Clinic staff (QOC)

In the past morning (23 November), Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary-General of the Association, honored to preside over the opening of the training on the topic of Quality of Care (QOC) standards, to develop the quality of services of PPAT Medical Clinics and support staff from all departments to develop knowledge related to work, along with reviewing and updating knowledge related to reproductive health work to be more efficient. At Somdej Uppatham Building, Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), with staff from all 9 PPAT Medical Clinics and related persons participating in this training altogether. All 9 PPAT Medical Clinics, including telemedicine doctors, will be closed from 23–27 November and will open as usual on 28 November. We apologize for any inconvenience caused on this occasion….

Congratulations to PPAT Deputy Director for Receiving Honorary Award

On 29 October, PPAT congratulated Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, Deputy Director of the Northeastern Regional Office and Manager of PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic, on the occasion of receiving an honorary plaque from Mr. Teerasak Teekayuphan, Mayor of Khon Kaen Municipality, in recognition of her valuable contributions to the municipality. The award was presented on the occasion of the 88th Anniversary of Khon Kaen Municipality, at the 200-Year Public Park Stage, Bueng Kaen Nakhon, Khon Kaen Province….

PPAT Organizing Capacity-Building Training for Staff

From 28–29 October, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of PPAT, presided over the capacity-building training for staff under the project “Personnel Skill Development for Project Development and Proposal Writing.” The event was honored by Khun Duangkamol Ponchamni, Project Manager from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as guest speaker. The training provided PPAT staff with knowledge on how to develop project proposals that meet current donor demands and challenges, both domestic and international, along with practical workshops. The knowledge gained will be used to further enhance the scope of PPAT’s project work. The training was organized by the Research and Project Development Division….

PPAT Organizing Activity to Commemorate the Royal Benevolence of “Princess Srinagarindra”

On 22 October, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary General of the Association, together with Miss Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri, Registrar of the Association, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director, PPAT staff, and Baan Hormlamduan Elderly Care Center team, conducted the activity “In Remembrance of the Royal Benevolence of Princess Srinagarindra” on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, patron of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand, at Bor Farang Rim Nam Community, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The event featured educational activities on basic dementia screening and methods for slowing cognitive decline. Participants received elderly health promotion kits intended to benefit the main target group of this activity—the elderly in the community….

Congratulations to Outstanding Volunteers of 2023

On 21 October, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) extended its congratulations to three PPAT volunteers Mrs. Chenurwatee Binkuno, Senior Professional Teacher (Level 3), Salamai School, Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province. Mrs. Suwanna Mahama, Chair of the Relief Committee, Su-ngai Padi District, Narathiwat Province. Mrs. Napawan Chaodong, Beauty Business Owner, Khon Kaen Province,on the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Volunteer Award 2023 at the 2023 National Social Work and Thai Volunteer Day, held to honor and commemorate the royal benevolence and promote the legacy of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra. The event was organized by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, at Centra by Centara Hotel, Government Complex and Convention Centre, Chaeng Watthana, Lak Si District, Bangkok….

PPAT Discusses Maternal and Child Health Care for Ethnic Minorities in Remote Areas

From October 3–6, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, PPAT Secretary, along with Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, PPAT Treasurer, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, PPAT Director, and the PPAT Chiang Mai team, participated in a meeting to exchange knowledge on maternal and child health care for ethnic minorities and residents in remote areas in Mae Hong Son. The session, organized by the Regional Health Promotion Center 1 in Chiang Mai and UNFPA Thailand and Vietnam, focused on improving access to prenatal and childbirth services in these hard-to-reach communities. This initiative aligns with PPAT’s strategic goals to ensure reproductive health services are accessible to target groups, particularly for adolescent pregnancy prevention and support for pregnant women in remote areas….

PPAT Executive Team Visits PPAT Chiang Mai Office

On October 6, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, and Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham visited the PPAT Chiang Mai office, where they provided guidance and exchanged insights on operational processes and the future development of PPAT’s work. The visit aimed to strengthen the stability of PPAT’s staff and operations in the northern region, with support from Ms. Patcharaporn Leepreecha, Deputy Director of PPAT Northern Regional Office….

PPAT Representative Attends Global Conference on Reproductive Health in Kenya

From September 26–29, 2023, PPAT’s Deputy Director, Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, and Research and Development Manager, Ms. Saneekan Rosamontri, participated in the closing meeting of the Global Care Consortium for Abortion and Reproductive Self-care in Kenya. This event, organized by 15 global organizations, including Profamilia Colombia and supported by IPPF, featured a presentation by PPAT on telemedicine for self-managed abortion. The discussions included policy advocacy, legal frameworks, technological advancements, and partnership development—essential topics for PPAT’s ongoing work in reproductive health….

Department of Health, PPAT and Bayer Thai launch “Choices: Your Life. Your Choices” campaign on World Contraception Day 2023

Bangkok – 26 September 2023: The Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, together with the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) under the Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Mother and Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. marks the World Contraception Day 2023 with Choices: Your Life. Your Choices campaign. The campaign was launched at the press conference today as the world celebrates the annual World Contraception Day, urging teenagers to get the right knowledge on contraceptives and seek professional consultation on suitable birth control methods for proper future planning and fewer unplanned pregnancies in Thailand. Dr. Bunyarit Sukrat, Director of Bureau of Reproductive Health, said that unintended pregnancies have been a longstanding issue with social and economic consequences, especially among young teens, as teen pregnancies remain in spite of the nations’ declining birth rate of 38% in 2022 compared to a decade ago. PPAT Collaborates with Grand Hyatt Hotel Group to Award Scholarships to LGBTQIA+ Youth

On the morning of June 23, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary of PPAT, along with Mr. Xuwat Wongchotewattana, Director of Human Resources for Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, presided over the scholarship award ceremony for academically gifted LGBTQIA+ youth in need of financial support. This initiative aims to inspire and empower these young individuals to pursue their education and become valuable, skilled contributors to society. The event took place at the Somdet Upatham Building, Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand, Vibhavadi Soi 44, Bangkok. Additionally, the event was graced by the presence of Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, PPAT Treasurer; Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, PPAT Director; Ms. Nattakan Yimrit, PPAT Deputy Director; Khun Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager; educators from network schools; and the scholarship recipients….
