The mobile health unit of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) continued its outreach efforts at Wat Mueang Daeng, Mae Sai Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, to provide health checkups and reproductive health education to people affected by flooding and landslides. Services were provided to Thai citizens, migrant workers, and ethnic minority groups without discrimination based on nationality, religion, or ethnicity. The activity was led by Ms. Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, along with the project team and the PPAT Mae Sot team from Tak Province. Services offered included the distribution of contraceptive supplies to prevent unplanned pregnancy, voluntary blood testing, distribution of basic medicines, wound care, STI screening, and reproductive health education, including information on STI prevention and family planning. From October 7–10, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) assigned Ms. Orawan Kerdjan, Senior Officer, Planning and Evaluation Division, and Ms. Nuchnar Raruern, Project Manager for Sexual and Reproductive Health Capacity Development in Emergency Situations (SPRINT 2), to participate as representatives in the Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Training Workshop. The workshop was organized through collaboration between IPPF East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESAOR), IPPF South Asia Region, and UNFPA Asia and the Pacific. The workshop focused on advancing accountability and empowering communities to take part in decision-making processes that directly affect their lives. It aimed to ensure that no one is left behind and that humanitarian decision-making genuinely considers and responds to the voices of crisis-affected populations. True accountability was emphasized as a mechanism through which affected communities’ voices can be heard. On the morning of October 10th, Ms. Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, led the project team in collaboration with the PPAT team from Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and the Karuna Volunteer Club of Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, to deliver mobile health services and reproductive health education to migrant workers and ethnic groups affected by flooding in Mae Sai District. Most of the beneficiaries were migrant workers who have limited access to support services—particularly in the areas of health, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and domestic violence. On October 9, the project team from the Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic, led by Khun Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, along with Khun Pongsakorn Saokhiao, Project Officer, and their team, conducted home visits to residents affected by a landslide in Ban Pa Yang, Mae Fa Luang Subdistrict, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The visit aimed to offer emotional support and provide initial relief supplies to those impacted. In collaboration with the Ban Pa Yang Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, the team also coordinated mobile reproductive health services for the local population. On the morning of September 23, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) participated in a knowledge exchange forum with the Parliamentary Committee on Children, Youth, Women, the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities, Ethnic Groups, and Gender Diversity of the House of Representatives. The event was a seminar titled “Reproductive Hygiene: Awareness for Every Life Stage”. Khun Serene Ramnee, Project Manager of PPAT, joined the panel discussion on the topic “Adolescent Reproductive Health and Policies on Sexual Harassment, Menstruation, and Sanitary Products.” The seminar aimed to educate adolescents, working-age adults, and the elderly on reproductive hygiene and its practical application in daily life.
