Home Visits and Relief Support for Landslide Victims in Ban Pa Yang, Chiang Rai

On October 9, the project team from the Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic, led by Khun Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, along with Khun Pongsakorn Saokhiao, Project Officer, and their team, conducted home visits to residents affected by a landslide in Ban Pa Yang, Mae Fa Luang Subdistrict, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The visit aimed to offer emotional support and provide initial relief supplies to those impacted. In collaboration with the Ban Pa Yang Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, the team also coordinated mobile reproductive health services for the local population. These services were delivered without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or nationality, under the framework of the project “Meeting the Essential SRH Needs of Communities Affected by Floods and Landslides in Northern Thailand,” supported by funding from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). PPAT Chiang Rai Medical Clinic Continues Providing Support in Mae Sai

In the evening of October 8, the Chiang Rai PPAT Medical Clinic team, led by Khun Kornrawee Sanduang, Project Manager, along with Khun Pongsakorn Saokhiao, Project Officer, and team members, remained stationed in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, to continue offering assistance to those affected by the recent flooding and landslides in the area. The team actively coordinated with the Mae Sai Municipality, disaster relief agencies, and partner organizations to deploy mobile reproductive health services to affected residents, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or nationality. This mission forms part of the project titled “Meeting the Essential SRH Needs of Communities Affected by Floods and Landslides in Northern Thailand,” which is financially supported by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Although floodwaters have begun to recede, many homes remain buried in mud, and roads remain difficult to traverse….

IPPF Visits PPAT Medical Clinic to Observe Ongoing Work

On September 30, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), together with Khun Saneekan Rosamontri, Project Research and Development Manager, and Khun Serene Ramnee, Project Manager, welcomed members and staff from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) during their visit to exchange insights and observe the work of PPAT. The visit included a tour of the PPAT Medical Clinic and the Ban Hom Lamduan Elderly Care Facility, highlighting PPAT’s comprehensive approach to healthcare services. World Contraception Day 2024: “Department of Health – PPAT – Bayer Thai” Join Forces to Empower the Next Generation with Knowledge

Bangkok – September 26, 2024 – The Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra (PPAT), in collaboration with the Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and Bayer Thai Co., Ltd., jointly organized a campaign to mark World Contraception Day 2024, observed annually on September 26. The campaign was held under the theme “Empowering Choices, One Decision at a Time: Building Knowledge for the Future of the New Generation”, with the aim of driving accurate and comprehensive knowledge about contraception. The initiative encourages young people to make informed decisions and take charge of their own futures with quality and confidence. It also supports the reduction of unintended pregnancies, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Engaging with the Parliamentary Committee to Promote Reproductive Health Awareness

On the morning of September 23, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) participated in a knowledge exchange forum with the Parliamentary Committee on Children, Youth, Women, the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities, Ethnic Groups, and Gender Diversity of the House of Representatives. The event was a seminar titled “Reproductive Hygiene: Awareness for Every Life Stage”. Khun Serene Ramnee, Project Manager of PPAT, joined the panel discussion on the topic “Adolescent Reproductive Health and Policies on Sexual Harassment, Menstruation, and Sanitary Products.” The seminar aimed to educate adolescents, working-age adults, and the elderly on reproductive hygiene and its practical application in daily life. It also sought to build adolescents’ resilience against sexual harassment and to promote inclusive participation in shaping reproductive health policies and legislation across different age groups. PPAT Receives the People’s Choice Award in Sexual and Reproductive Health Promotion

On September 18, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) was honored with the People’s Choice Award in the category of Sexual and Reproductive Health Promotion at the HER AWARDS UNFPA, THAILAND 2024—a ceremony celebrating inspiring women. Representing the Association at the award reception were Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Secretary-General of the Association; Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association; Mr. Panatphong Noradee, Manager of Knowledge Dissemination and Public Relations; Ms. Chanisiree Pumthong; and Ms. Luksika Ngohses from PPAT’s Research and Development Department. Collaborating with Network Partners to Improve Quality of Life

On September 6, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, welcomed and held a meeting with Khun Kittinun Daramadhaj, President of the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand, and Khun Warawut Bunsirithanarot, Deputy Secretary-General of the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand. Also in attendance at the meeting were Khun Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of the Association, Mr. Panatphong Noradee, Knowledge Dissemination and Public Relations Manager, and Ms. Suphamas Himmaved, Secretary. The meeting was convened to coordinate collaboration between the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) and the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand in advancing work related to the promotion of quality of life for the elderly population and vulnerable groups. Learning to Use Condoms to Prevent Unintended Pregnancy / VCT/STIs Screening for Students

On August 28, a team of instructors from the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), led by Khun Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, visited the area to conduct a participatory training workshop to provide knowledge on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and effective methods of contraception. The training targeted young students from North Bangkok University, Rangsit Campus, Bangkok, and was supported by funding from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation Thailand (AHF Thailand). The educational session focused on topics related to reproductive health, prevention of unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual and reproductive health rights. These subjects were delivered through participatory learning activities such as demonstrations on the correct use of condoms and methods to prevent sexually transmitted infections. Additionally, VCT/STIs screening services were provided to the students. The participants gained not only knowledge but also enjoyment and a sense of safety, which will help them build resilience and protect themselves effectively….

IPPF Representatives Visit PPAT to Strengthen Monitoring and Evaluation Systems

During August 26–27, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, welcomed and participated in a technical workshop on monitoring and evaluation of sexual and reproductive health programs with Dr. Rajrattan Lokhande, Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor, Humanitarian Programme, and Mr. Kumar Das, Senior Advisor – Performance, Learning and Impact, from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Participants in the meeting included Ms. Saneekan Rosamontri, Project Research and Development Manager; Ms. Padivarada Dermsunteah, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager; Ms. Orawan Kerdjan, Planning and Evaluation Officer; Ms. Laksika Ngoset, Research and Development Officer; and Ms. Chanisiree Pumthong, Academic Officer. The meeting focused on sharing knowledge to improve and strengthen PPAT’s monitoring and evaluation systems for sexual and reproductive health programs in both emergency and non-emergency contexts.
