PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic Participates in Isan Pride Parade

On June 24th, 2023, PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic participated in the Isaan Pride 2023: Inclusiveness: Equality for All in Isaan. The event aimed to raise awareness about the diversity of people, identities, gender expressions, and sexual orientations (LGBTQIA+). It also served as a social movement advocating for issues such as equal marriage rights, gender identity recognition, bodily autonomy, and reproductive health rights, including access to safe and legal abortion services. The parade, which took place in Khon Kaen’s municipal area, highlighted the voices of marginalized groups facing discrimination or inequality based on their gender and sexual identity….

PPAT Executive Director Meets Ministry of Interior Officials to Strengthen Collaboration

On Friday, June 23, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director of PPAT, led a working group in discussions with Mr. Soramongkhon Mangalasiri, Director of the Foreign Affairs Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Foreign Affairs Division conference room, focused on collaboration in promoting sexual and reproductive health and family planning in temporary shelters for displaced persons from Myanmar, particularly at Ban Mae La, Tak Province. Additionally, PPAT sought permission to conduct a project evaluation visit in collaboration with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) from July 3–6, 2023….

The hotel business group under Grand Hyatt awards scholarships to LGBTQIA+ youth

On June 22, 2023, Khun Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, represented the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) in receiving a scholarship donation of 104,370 THB from senior executives of the Grand Hyatt Hotel Group. The donation was presented by Edouard Demptos, General Manager, and Xuwat Wongchotewattana, Regional Director of Human Resources for Thailand, Cambodia, and the Maldives, at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. The Grand Hyatt Hotel Group initiated this pilot scholarship program for LGBTQIA+ youth 🏳️‍🌈 to promote equal opportunities and celebrate Pride Month. PPAT was the only civil society organization entrusted with managing this initiative, providing scholarships to high-achieving LGBTQIA+ students facing financial hardship. PPAT’s Board discussion with PPAT staff

On June 19, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shayaniss Kono, Secretary General of the Association, accompanied by Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, the Association’s Treasurer, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, the Registrar, held discussions with PPAT staff. The meeting focused on exchanging knowledge, addressing work methods and challenges, and collaboratively enhancing PPAT’s operational efficiency. Education on Preventing Unplanned Pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Schools

On June 15, educators from PPAT delivered a lecture on preventing sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies, as well as provided risk screening training using the “Guanteen Program,” to students at Donmuangchaturachinda School in Bangkok. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Pansinee Mohdeewang, the school director, and was monitored and evaluated by representatives from the Planning and Information Systems Unit and the Behavioral Prevention Unit of the AIDS, TB, and STI Control Division. This activity was implemented under the Phase 2 Youth HIV Prevention in Educational Institutions project, funded by the Urban Disease Control Institute and the AIDS, TB, and STI Control Division of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department….

Field Education for Youth on STI and Unplanned Pregnancy Prevention in Schools

On June 12, educators from the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand conducted an on-site session at Silacharaphiphat School in Bangkok. The program provided students with knowledge on preventing sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies. Additionally, students underwent risk screening through the “Guanteen Program,” with representatives from the Planning and Information Systems Unit and the Behavioral Prevention Unit of the AIDS, Tuberculosis, and STI Control Division of Bangkok monitoring and evaluating the project. This initiative is part of the Phase 2 Youth HIV Prevention project in educational institutions, funded by the Urban Disease Control Institute and the AIDS, TB, and STI Control Division of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department….

Advocacy on HIV and unprepared pregnancy in educational institution

On 8th June, PPAT teams lead by the project manager Khun Worachote Lamudthong educate Panyapiwat Technological College’s freshmen on Sexual transmitted disease and preventing unprepared pregnancy. “Participants learned about various effective HIV prevention methods in an engaging and interactive format. The event also featured free HIV and syphilis screening services. This activity was conducted under the project aimed at expanding access to SRHR education and HIV prevention services in educational institutions. Congratulations to PPAT Benefactors of 2022

PPAT would like to congratulate Mr. Jeuseng Jesu, a volunteer in three southern border provinces in the occasion of having been awarded for the 2022 annual volunteer at the Annual General Meeting 2022. Mr. Jeuseng Jesu has served as a leading volunteer who has been working with PPAT from 1992. He started with disseminating knowledge on HIV/AIDS to fishermen in Pattani province under these projects; 1. Well-Being Promotion in the South project 2. PPAT Annual General Meeting 2022

PPAT conducted the 53rd Annual General Meeting on 27 May 2023 and grant awards to annual benefactors as well as outstanding volunteers at the Grand Meeting room at the PPAT Headquarter Building. The meeting was honorary chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luedech Girdwichai, PPAT President, with PPAT 17th council members, namely, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shayaniss Kono, Secretary-General, Ms. Penpan Chittasenee, Treasurer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Sripho, Registrar, Ms. Sirichandra Balakanich and Mrs. Ameenoh Meedsen, along with youth council members, Ms. Dadchaneeya Ruttanasiri and Ms. Intharadara Chuengdee.
