This morning (August 13), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), led by Miss Serene Ramnee, the Project Manager, and a team of speakers, conducted a proactive activity to build knowledge and understanding of reproductive health among young people. The PPAT Moon Blood Festival project was held at Sasanabhorihan Business Vocational College. The objective of this educational session was to reinforce correct understanding regarding key issues related to adolescent life. The content covered a variety of useful topics, including: preparation for various lifestyles and healthy relationships, marriage and family life, sexual violence and sexual abuse, the influence of media, society, and culture. Earlier this morning (August 7), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), led by Miss Serene Ramnee, the Project Manager, and her team, moved forward with an activity to educate youth on sex education as part of the PPAT Moon Blood Festival project at Panyapiwat Technological College. Mr. Wichian Neamnom, the College Director, presided over the opening ceremony, which saw enthusiastic participation from the students. The key goal of this activity is to promote a correct understanding of reproductive health and the prevention of unplanned pregnancy, raising awareness and providing essential information related to reproductive health, such as: effective contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), sexual orientation, gender identity and reducing social bias. This activity is not only about providing accurate knowledge to the youth but also about creating a space for them to learn and understand sex education in a comprehensive manner, leading to correct and safe decision-making in the future….
Between August 2-3, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) organized the ‘Orientation and Workshop for Developing Operational Guidelines and Strategy for the 18th Board of Directors’ at the Novotel Rayong Rim Pae Resort. The members of the 18th Board of Directors attended in full force to collectively determine the association’s direction and operational strategy. The event was presided over by Assoc. On July 24th, Ms. Nuchanat Raruen, PPAT Mae Sot Project Manager, Tak Province, represented the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) at a stakeholder progress meeting regarding the operations of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in all 9 temporary shelters for displaced persons from the Thai-Myanmar border conflict. These shelters cover areas in Mae Hong Son, Tak, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi provinces. The meeting was held at the Temporary Shelter for Displaced Persons from Myanmar at Baan Mae La, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province. The major issue discussed was the impact of budget cuts to the shelters and the deliberation of contingency plans to cope with these effects. Additionally, the meeting collectively called on the government to consider permitting displaced persons to work outside the shelters to: help alleviate labor shortages, reduce the financial burden of budget support, mitigate family violence issues that may arise within the centers. On July 22nd, Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, Manager of the PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic, welcomed staff from the Service Workers in Group (SWING) Foundation. The SWING delegation included Khun Saman Sumalu, Assistant Director; Khun Attachai Phunkorn, Clinic Manager; and Khun Attakorn Somwaeng, Project Officer. They visited the PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic office. The purpose of the visit was to exchange knowledge about the overall operations of the PPAT Khon Kaen Medical Clinic, and to discuss potential avenues for cooperation that align with the clinic’s needs and goals. On July 22nd, Khun Papavee Chairak, PPAT Project Consultant, and Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, PPAT Executive Director, led the executive team to a meeting with Mr. Zcongklod Khawjang, Director of the Policy Coordination Group for Immigrants and Migrants and Assistant Head of the Operations Center for Displaced Persons Office, Ministry of Interior (MOI), along with MOI staff.The meeting took place at the conference room of the Operations Center for Displaced Persons Office. The main objective of the discussion was to explore avenues for cooperation in caring for and supporting displaced persons from conflict specifically regarding reproductive health issues. PPAT, as an organization specializing in reproductive health and family planning, presented useful data and practical guidelines for integrating efforts with the Operations Center for Displaced Persons Office, Ministry of Interior. The International Planned Parenthood Federation East and South East Asia and Oceania Regional Office (IPPF ESEAOR) and the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) co-hosted the international academic conference: “Clinical Management on Menopause and Fertility Care.” The conference was held from July 21st to 25th, 2025, at the Montien Hotel Surawong, Bangkok.Leading the participation from PPAT was Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Executive Director, along with doctors from the PPAT Ubon Ratchathani Medical Clinic and medical staff from other PPAT medical clinics. This meeting served as an important platform for medical personnel and health experts from 15 countries across Asia, the Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand to exchange knowledge, experiences, and the latest innovations regarding menopause care and fertility care. The focus was on clinical management to promote a better quality of life for women in menopause. Last evening (July 21st), the project staff of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), along with volunteers, continued their proactive work by deploying a mobile unit to offer voluntary HIV/STIs testing and provide education on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention in the Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. Between July 16th and 18th, 2025, Ms. Siriluck Chiengwong, Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand, traveled to Mae Sot District, Tak Province, along with the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) Tak Area Project Team. The purpose of the visit was to assess the needs regarding: reproductive Health services, work to reduce maternal and child mortality, work to reduce gender-based violence (GBV), youth empowerment activities. This field visit occurred amid the significant situation of reduced funding support for temporary shelters, which directly impacts humanitarian operations and essential services for vulnerable groups in the border area. The team met and held discussions with key partner organizations in the area, including: Border Medical Learning Center (Border Med), Mae Sot Hospital, Suwannimit Foundation, Foundation for Aid Without Borders, Life Impact International. This morning (July 21st), the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with the Bangkok University Clinic, organized a practical workshop to provide education on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and effective contraception to students at the university.The activity also included a mobile unit offering HIV/STI screening services to Bangkok University students. It was carried out under the Project to Promote HIV Infection Prevention among Youth in Educational Institutions in Pathum Thani Province. Khun Pattaya Buranaprapa, Project Manager, and the team led the activities. The main objectives were to: assess risky behaviors that could lead to STIs, raise awareness about proper self-protection methods, reduce the spread of infections. In addition to easy-to-understand lectures, the event provided HIV/STI screening services to interested students and distributed condoms to promote safe self-protection. On July 21st, the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), in collaboration with Santirat Vocational College under the Royal Patronage, organized the “PPAT Moon Blood Festival” educational activity for students at the college.
