Collaborating with Network Partners to Improve Quality of Life

On September 6, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, welcomed and held a meeting with Khun Kittinun Daramadhaj, President of the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand, and Khun Warawut Bunsirithanarot, Deputy Secretary-General of the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand. Also in attendance at the meeting were Khun Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of the Association, Mr. Panatphong Noradee, Knowledge Dissemination and Public Relations Manager, and Ms. Suphamas Himmaved, Secretary. The meeting was convened to coordinate collaboration between the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) and the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand in advancing work related to the promotion of quality of life for the elderly population and vulnerable groups. Learning to Use Condoms to Prevent Unintended Pregnancy / VCT/STIs Screening for Students

On August 28, a team of instructors from the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), led by Khun Worachote Lamudthong, Project Manager, visited the area to conduct a participatory training workshop to provide knowledge on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and effective methods of contraception. The training targeted young students from North Bangkok University, Rangsit Campus, Bangkok, and was supported by funding from the AIDS Healthcare Foundation Thailand (AHF Thailand). The educational session focused on topics related to reproductive health, prevention of unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual and reproductive health rights. These subjects were delivered through participatory learning activities such as demonstrations on the correct use of condoms and methods to prevent sexually transmitted infections. Additionally, VCT/STIs screening services were provided to the students. The participants gained not only knowledge but also enjoyment and a sense of safety, which will help them build resilience and protect themselves effectively….

IPPF Representatives Visit PPAT to Strengthen Monitoring and Evaluation Systems

During August 26–27, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, welcomed and participated in a technical workshop on monitoring and evaluation of sexual and reproductive health programs with Dr. Rajrattan Lokhande, Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor, Humanitarian Programme, and Mr. Kumar Das, Senior Advisor – Performance, Learning and Impact, from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Participants in the meeting included Ms. Saneekan Rosamontri, Project Research and Development Manager; Ms. Padivarada Dermsunteah, Monitoring and Evaluation Manager; Ms. Orawan Kerdjan, Planning and Evaluation Officer; Ms. Laksika Ngoset, Research and Development Officer; and Ms. Chanisiree Pumthong, Academic Officer. The meeting focused on sharing knowledge to improve and strengthen PPAT’s monitoring and evaluation systems for sexual and reproductive health programs in both emergency and non-emergency contexts. Additionally, the IPPF representatives visited the PPAT Bangkhen Medical Clinic and other PPAT departments to gain further insight into the organization’s operations….

PPAT Conducts Staff Training on Workplace Protection

On August 26th, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, together with Ms. Nuttakan Yimrit, Deputy Director of PPAT (Head Office), joined PPAT staff from all central and regional departments in attending a training session on workplace protection. The session aimed to build a shared understanding of rights and protections related to violations that may occur both externally and internally within the organization. The training was held in the 5th-floor conference room of the Somdet Uppatham Building, Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 44, Bangkok, and was also conducted via an online meeting platform….

PPAT Director Joins Panel Discussion on Promoting Equality and Ending Violence

On the morning of August 16th, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), participated in a panel discussion titled “Because Our (Sexual) Health Matters Equally: Ending Violence for Everyone’s Rights and Choices” organized by UNFPA Thailand (United Nations Population Fund). Panelists included Ms. Pariyakorn Suwan, Secretary-General of the National Council for Children and Youth of Thailand; Ms. Nunnaree Luangmoi, Director of the Center for Girls Foundation; and Mr. Rungphet Muangmit, Senior Social Worker at Mae Sot Hospital. The session was moderated by Ms. Panjawaree Puapansri, Gender-Based Violence Programme Coordinator. The discussion was part of the 4th National Conference on Sexual Health: “Strong Community for Healthy Sexuality” held at the Grand Richmond Hotel, Nonthaburi Province….

Lessons Learned: Mechanisms for Empowering Youth in Remote Areas

On August 15th, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, served as the moderator for the panel discussion titled “From Peer to Peer: Mechanisms for Empowering Youth in Remote Areas to Access Reproductive Health Equitably.” The panelists included Ms.Roongrasamee Sriwongphan, Deputy Director of the Health Center for Ethnic Groups,Marginalized Populations, and Migrant Workers; Ms. Chanthrarat Narumitwichayanan, Professional Nurse Practitioner at Ban Mae Na Health Promoting Hospital, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province; Mr. Jinnawat Khankhamkat, Senior Community Development Officer at Ban Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province; and Mr. Nasimo Jaueay, Youth Advocate Supporting Young Mothers in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province. JTF-PPAT-IPPF Inception Meeting

Bangkok, August 2, 2024 – The Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) Under the Patronage of H.R.H the Princess Mother, in collaboration with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the Japan Trust Fund (JTF), co-organized the inception meeting for the project “Responding to the Sexual and Reproductive Health Needs of Displaced Persons from Myanmar.” This initiative will be implemented in Tak Province, covering three districts: Tha Song Yang, Mae Ramat, and Mae Sot, to promote knowledge and provide sexual and reproductive health services to people fleeing conflict in Myanmar. These displaced persons have settled along the Thai-Myanmar border and outside temporary shelters. Asst. Prof. Dr.Sukanya Sripho, Secretary-General of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand, stated that due to the ongoing violent conflict in Myanmar since 2021, a significant number of displaced persons have fled to neighboring countries. The UNHCR estimates that at least 100,000 Myanmar displaced persons have sought refuge in Thailand. Recognizing the major barriers and limitations…

Providing Flood Relief Assistance in Tak Province

On July 28th, a representative of the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, delivered essential household and food supplies to residents affected by flooding in areas where access and transportation were severely disrupted. Celebrating World Population Day

Celebrating World Population Day: Investing in All Genders and All Ages for a Brighter and Sustainable Future On July 11th, Dr. Nanthakan Sungsuman Woodham, Director of the Association, along with Ms. Ladda Jitwatanapataya, Advisor to the Director; Mr. Panatphong Noradee, Information, education and communication manager; and Miss Chanisiree Pumthong from the Research and Development Unit, participated in the 2024 World Population Day celebration. The event also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (#ICPD30), under the theme “Our Common Future: Investment through Life-Cycle Approach for Sustainable and Inclusive Population and Development in Thailand” The event was organized by UNFPA Thailand (United Nations Population Fund, Thailand Country Office) and held at the Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok. Khon Kaen PPAT Medical Clinic Organizes Youth Training Activity

On July 5th, the Khon Kaen PPAT Medical Clinic, in collaboration with the Thai Athorn Foundation, Khon Kaen, organized an activity under the project to promote health literacy and well-being at Ban Nong Yai Municipal School. The project was funded by the Khon Kaen Municipality. The activity was led by Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, Deputy Director of the PPAT Northeastern Regional Office and Manager of the Khon Kaen PPAT Medical Clinic, together with the project team. It took place in the meeting room of Ban Nong Yai Municipal School, targeting 138 students in Mathayom 1–3 (Grades 7–9)….

Khon Kaen PPAT Medical Clinic Signs Agreement to Advance Gender Equality

On July 5th, Ms. Warunee Tungsiri, Deputy Director of the PPAT Northeastern Regional Office and Manager of the PPAT Medical Clinic, Khon Kaen, represented the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) in signing an agreement to advance the promotion of gender equality and equity in Khon Kaen Province. The initiative aims to support Thailand’s bid to host the InterPride World Conference and World Pride. The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Kaisorn Kongchalad, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, and included the participation of partner organizations across sectors—government, private sector, business, academia, and civil society—who jointly signed the agreement in this important cause….
